The Suncoast Jazz Classic is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization whose ultimate mission is to provide opportunities for local youth to both study and perform traditional jazz.

The Jazz Classic awards annual youth scholarships jointly with the Suncoast Jazz Society, also a non-profit organization with the same mission. Since 1998, the organizations have awarded over $100,000, enabling talented, young musicians to further their jazz studies. Many of these students have gone on to successful careers with outstanding touring artists. In addition to their support of individual scholarships, Jazz Classic has extended its reach by funding residencies by top notch clinicians who bring their expertise to our local schools. In 2012, Tarpon Springs High School received funding through the Jazz Classic organization to bring Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra trumpeter, Marcus Printup, to Tarpon Springs for a 4 day residency. The residency included a master class held at Ruth Eckerd Hall that was open to the general public, clinics and rehearsals with the Tarpon Springs Jazz Band and a public performance by the TPHS jazz band with Mr. Printup as featured artist.
